KW - Dijital oyun KW - Battle pass KW - Süreli ödül mekanizmaları KW - FOMO (kaçırma korkusu) N2 - Digital games have evolved beyond being mere entertainment tools into global media products situated at the intersection of multidimensional economic, cultural, and psychological structures. One of the most significant consequences of this transformation is the proliferation of new-generation monetization models operating through microtransactions, subscription systems, and timed reward mechanisms in gaming economies. Battle pass systems, which have become increasingly standard in games in recent years, are fundamentally transforming both user behavior and the industry's revenue structure by linking the gaming experience to a continuous consumption cycle. This study examines battle pass systems not merely as a technical game design element, but as the subject of a multidisciplinary analysis drawing on behavioral economics, psychology, media studies, and consumer law. The primary objective of the research is to reveal the psychological, economic, and ethical impacts of timed reward mechanisms on consumers within a holistic theoretical framework. To this end, the study provides a comparative analysis of how battle pass systems operate across different platforms and community contexts, using case studies of globally popular games such as Fortnite, Genshin Impact, and Dota 2. The research is methodologically based on a systematic qualitative literature review. This meta-synthesis, conducted on academic articles published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, graduate theses, and corporate sector reports, reveals that consumption behavior in digital games is not only a matter of individual choice but also a structural phenomenon shaped by design direction and platform governance. This study aims to be an important reference resource for game developers, policymakers, and consumer protection agencies, as well as researchers working in the fields of digital game design, media economics, consumer behavior, and ethics and regulation.
